The collections of the history of Latvian seafaring contain about 27 800 museum objects, most of them relate to the period from the latter half of the 19th century to our day.

There is a rich collection of photographic evidence of Latvia’s ports, ships, seamen and their fortunes in history. Preserved in collections are also models of sailing ships, steamers and motor-ships, ship details and equipment, tools used in shipbuilding, flags, standards and streamers of ships, coins and medals related to seafaring, naval school course books, navigation equipment, sea charts, plans, blueprints, marines, sailors’ documents, books, everyday objects, sailors’ souvenirs and materials about marine organisations.
