International Conference “Animals in Riga: changing attitudes towards urban animals in the historical context”

An international conference “Animals in Riga: changing attitudes towards urban animals in the historical context” will be held in the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation on October 28.

The conference is a part of a project of the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation “Animals in Riga: changing attitudes towards animals in the industrialisation period (19th- 20th Century)”. The conference aims to popularise animal-related topics in regional studies in humanities and social sciences.

Planned reports in the conference program are divided into two thematic sessions: 1. Riga – the centre of animal protection ideas; 2. Human– Animal Interaction in the Urban Space.
