Exhibition “Israel of Sapphire and Gold” of paintings by artist ZOE SEVER (Ukraine – Israel)
An express exhibition “Israel of Sapphire and Gold” of paintings by artist ZOE SEVER (Ukraine – Israel) is on display at the Mentzendorff’s House from May 15 to 28. The exhibition is held in collaboration with the Embassy of Israel in Latvia.
An established and talented Israeli artist with a recognizable style and optimistic colors, Zoe Sever was born in 1974 in Lviv, Ukraine. By age 16, she completed her art studies at the Lviv School of Arts, and just straight after, in 1990, moved to Israel with her family. In 2001, she graduated the Architecture Faculty of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. Currently she lives and works in Giv’atayim, Israel.
Zoe has had numerous exhibitions in Israel and around the world. Her works are in museums and private collections in Israel, the US, Canada, Spain, France, Germany, the UK, Switzerland, Australia, Holland, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan.
Over the last years, she visits her native Ukraine every two months, where she provides Ukrainian soldiers with equipment and psychological support through her foundation “United People of the Planet”. Zoe also conducts a project of painting bomb shelters in schools and hospitals together with children, in cooperation with the Israeli Embassy in Kyiv.
This exhibition “Israel of Sapphire and Gold” is an invitation to experience Israel through the eyes of an artist who, using her rich palette of colors as her main tool, masterfully bridging the gap between two cities that, despite their differences, remain inextricably linked. Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, each unique in character, together form the complex and fascinating mosaic that is Israel.
Zoe Sever’s works provide an intimate exploration of the stark yet harmonious contrast between Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem, in a style which has been referred to as “Magic Expressionism”. In her paintings the multilayered and diverse urban landscape with its architecture, inhabitants, skyscrapers, embankments, fountains and parks, uniting east and west, ancient cities and modern architecture, desert landscapes and views of the sea coast are being revealed. The reality is refracted through the imagination as if in a fantastic kaleidoscope.
Join us on this visual artistic journey through the heart and soul of Israel and enjoy the exhibition!
