“BRANCHING” – exhibition of artworks by students and lecturers of the University of Latvia Faculty of Educational Sciences and Psychology professional bachelor’s program “ART”

The exhibition “BRANCHING” of artworks by students and lecturers of the University of Latvia Faculty of Educational Sciences and Psychology professional bachelor’s program “Art” is open in the Exhibition Hall of Mentzendorff’s House from May 8 to 31, 2026.

The exhibition “Branching” features impressions from the summer art plein air of year 2025. On display are conceptual works in various techniques appropriate to the theme. The diverse motifs of branches and roots and threads and associative thought of the theme have been studied and depicted by both lecturers and young artists.

Every year, second and third year students of the professional bachelor’s program “Art” are working creatively outdoors  in a summer plein air, which takes place in various places in Latvia.

During the plein air, students work under the guidance of lecturers Agata Muze, Ēra Zalcmane, Aldas Kopštāls, Austra Celmiņa-Ķeirāne, Anna Marija Ansone, Gaļina Mālniece, Rita Broka, Ingrīda Irbe and Juris Nikiforovs. Agris Dzilna, together with the students, goes outside to look for successful photo moments, while Aivars Plotka helps to incorporate them into specific design tasks.
